Atomic energy-sea water

Atomic energy, when used in a constructive way, can be used for the purification of sea water. The process of transforming ocean water to usable, pure water is common, but is very expensive, since it requires a lot of energy. This is used in countries all round the world. The main source of heat for water desalination is the nuclear reactor. The waste heat from the advanced deuterium reactor is used in the form of hot water or steam to obtain highly pure water. Since only the waste heat is used, it is cost effective. Large quantities of water can be purified in this way. Over populated nations like China are trying to solve their water scarcity problems by this technology. These projects are usually done on a large scale. Nuclear power can indeed prove to be a boon for farmers as the purified sea water can be used for irrigation. In case of shortage of rainfall, sea water, which is available in abundant quantities, can be made useful with the help of atomic energy. In the coming decades, ocean water might become an important source of drinking water, thanks to atomic energy.
